Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This policy explains what data the Araqna apps (Android, iOS and web), the Araqna Telegram bot and the araqna.app website collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Araqna is developed and operated by Boris Vysokanov, who is responsible for your data. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@araqna.app.
What we collect
Account data. You sign in through Telegram. We receive and store your Telegram user ID, username, and first and last name as Telegram provides them. For each sign-in session we store the IP address and the device's user agent, so sessions can be recognised and revoked.
What you add. Texts, links, photos and videos you add in the app or send to the bot, the page text and video subtitles we fetch from those links, and notes you write. Photos are stored on our server along with the recognised text.
Learning data. The words and phrases found in your texts, your progress with each of them, your training answers and sessions, and your app settings such as the languages you learn.
Connected assistants. If you connect an AI assistant (for example Claude) to your library, we store that connection and the permissions you granted.
Technical data. Our server logs record IP addresses, request times and addresses. We also count how much AI processing each account uses, to keep costs under control.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not access your contacts, location or files other than the ones you choose to add.
How we use it
Only to run Araqna for you: to sign you in, to recognise and analyse the texts you add, to translate them, to build your training sessions, and to keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else processes your data
- Google (Gemini API) — the texts and photos you add are sent to Google for text recognition, analysis and translation, and are processed under Google's API terms.
- Telegram — handles sign-in and the bot. What you send to the bot passes through Telegram.
- YouTube — when you watch a video inside the app, it is played by the YouTube player, so YouTube receives your request.
- AI assistants you connect — receive the parts of your library you give them access to, until you disconnect them.
- Content delivery networks — the website and the web app load fonts and libraries from Google Fonts, gstatic.com and cdnjs (Cloudflare), which see your IP address.
These services may process data outside your country.
Storage and retention
Your data is stored on our own server and kept while your account exists. On your device the app keeps only your sign-in tokens (in secure storage) and settings. The website remembers your language choice in your browser.
Server logs are rotated automatically and deleted within a few weeks.
Delete your account
You can delete your Araqna account and all its data at any time:
- Write to privacy@araqna.app with the subject “Delete my account” and include your Telegram username.
- We confirm the request with you through the Araqna Telegram bot, so nobody can delete someone else's account.
- Within 30 days we delete your account, your Telegram details, all texts, links, photos and notes you added, your learning progress, your sessions and your assistant connections.
Server logs that may contain your IP address are not deleted separately; they disappear on their own within a few weeks.
If you only want to delete a single text, you can do that in the app at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to restrict or object to its processing, or to delete it. Write to privacy@araqna.app and we will reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Araqna is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and update the date at the top. For significant changes we will also let you know in the app or through the bot.
